Sometimes people get life coaching and therapy mixed up. So here's a good place to talk a little bit about what coaching IS and what coaching ISN'T, and the difference between coaching and therapy.
Coaching: Sometimes we don't need more advice we just need someone to guide us, push us, help us discover what we possibly already know. Coaching involves setting goals, creating outcomes, finding identity, finding purpose, and managing personal change. It is future focused. Together we can create actionable strategies. Unlike therapy, coaches see their clients as whole, not broken. Wherever it is you are starting from, it's okay. The most important part is that you just start.
Therapy: Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict within an individual or in relationships. The focus is often on resolving difficulties arising from the past that hamper an individual's emotional functioning in the present, improving overall psychological functioning, and dealing with the present in more emotionally healthy ways.
